Book Launch & Charity Event with Rafik Schami and Root Leeb "Auf die Freundschaft"

Dear friends of the Museum of Islamic Art,

We would like to cordially invite you to the book presentation & charity event with Rafik Schami & Root Leeb "Auf die Freundschaft" at 8 pm in the Palais in the Kulturbrauerei.

Charity event for children, adolescents and schools in Syria

Rafik Schami and Root Leeb together with Samir Matar (Jusur-Brücken e.V.) present the anthology in the Palais des Kulturbrauerei. The book presentation is a charity event in favor of the association Jusur-Brücken e.V., which has been setting up schools for girls and boys affected by the Syrian crisis since 2012. With the proceeds of the event, refugee children in the Syrian crisis area as well as Syrian youth in the Syrian-Turkish border area will be able to attend school there and thus have free access to democratic education. So far, more than 3,500 children have benefited from this help. The focus of the support is currently on a school in Urm Aljouz in northwestern Syria with about 435 students.

The book: On the friendship - Auf die Freundschaft

Finally a book to give to good friends: a wonderful collection of lyrics from all over the world encouraging friendship. The stories presented by Rafik Schami tell of false and true friends, of blind trust, forbearance, testing and the happiness of mutual benevolence between women and women, men and men, men and women! This original friendship book with texts from world literature is a celebration of timeless values ​​such as loyalty, empathy and helpfulness. It is rounded off by anecdotes and aphorisms about hospitality or friends of friends as well as entertaining insights into the understanding of friendship of different cultures.

The event is a cooperation of the association Jusur-Brücken e.V., the friends of the Museum of Islamic Art in the Pergamonmuseum e.V. and the Manesse publishing house with literature: BERLIN and the bookshop Kunst - Buch Kollwitzplatz.

Admission: VVK 17 Euro (plus VVK fee). AK 20 euros. TICKETS are plus VVK fee online here via Eventbrite & Eventim, available at all known ticket outlets and in the Kulturbrauerei and without VVK fee in the bookstore art - book Kollwitzplatz.
